My client is a developer who designs, develops and project manages the construction of surgery premises ranging from single doctor units to multiple partner practices and primary health care centres. They offers a ‘one-stop shop’ service for clients, who are mainly doctors, Primary Care, Community and Mental Health Trusts and providers of associated health services such as dentists and pharmacists.

Due to an expanding workload and demanding clients they have the need for a commercial development manager. The role will involve leading the development team in the NE office, reporting directly to the Northern Regional Director on specific development matters. Your responsibilities will include managing and motivating development support staff, identifying and generating new business and progressing viable schemes to financial close, including: Signing up clients as preferred developers, agreeing and signing up unencumbered affordable sites suitable for development, agreeing availability of funding from Primary Care organisations or other source, agreeing financial viability of any scheme with the Director, working with the in house professional teams and ensuring all aspects and details of individual schemes are communicated accurately to all concerned including all stakeholders in the project where appropriate, progressing schemes to financial close taking ultimate responsibility for such progress and ensuring any issues are dealt with without unnecessary delay making full use of the resources available, making presentations to primary care trusts and general practioners, liaising with external bodies (Local authorities), land agents, architects and contractors and project management of the development process. (Executive project management). You will possess the ability to network and develop business opportunities. Ideally you will a chartered (not essential) surveyor with knowledge and experience gained working for either a developer or within the development section of a private surveying practice.
